The Equine/Recreational Coordinator of Boulder Crest Foundation is responsible to the Executive Director for the feeding, care coordination, medical appointments, and overall wellness for our 4 horses onsite, covered horse arena, and 3 acres of pasture to include mucking pastures, fence repair, grooming. Additionally, Equine/Rec. coordinator is responsible for planning, preparing, maintenance of supplies, and coordinating recreational activities (i.e. archery, hiking, kayaking, fishing) and equine-based programs for guests of the Retreat. Through hands-on interaction with guests using outdoor recreational and equine activities, the Equine/Recreational Coordinator helps guests improve mental, emotional, and physical wellbeing; reduce depression, stress, and anxiety; build confidence; reinforce effective social skills; boost creativity and have fun.
Responsibilities include, but not limited to:
- Daily AM/PM feeding of the herd to include weekends
- Weekly supply order and inventory of supplies to feed the herd
- Fence and pasture maintenance as needed to include repairs, fence board replacement, and painting
- Coordinating medical appointments for herd (farrier, dentist, annual vet visits)
- Co-facilitation of equine module during structured programs such as Warrior PATHH, SWS PATHH, Military Teen Retreat.
- Planning, facilitating, and organizing recreational activities for R&R guests to include hiking, kayaking, archery, fishing, equine sessions
- Maintain, inventory, and replace supplies for recreation as needed in areas of fishing, archery, kayaking, and equine
- Operate a tractor, gator, truck, and trailer as needed to bush hog, grade, and drag the arena and pastures
- Supporting daily operations of Retreat as needed
