Boxwood Learning Center - Tutoring/Mentoring

Boxwood Learning Center, Inc. is a 501 C 3 non-profit organization. Our mission is to create learning environments for supporting the whole person by way of tutoring, mentoring, and career exploration. AmeriCorps Members are people of the community with a passion and desire to give back and support others! We''ll train our members on GED Tutoring practices, Restorative Justice Circles, and Trauma Informed First Aid to best support our young champions on their way to success. Our target population is those involved with local schools and the justice system. For those in schools we can support them with mentoring, homework assistance, coaching, and decision-making workshops. As for those out of schools, we''re able to provide GED tutoring to achieve their high school diploma. Further help on this page can be found by clicking here.

Member Duties : AmeriCorps Mentor will focus on the coaching/case management/peer mentor component of the program. Front facing service with workshop facilitation in conjunction with Boxwood facilitators, primarily to drive better decision making amongst the youth. AmeriCorps Tutors will focus on GED tutoring (occasionally homework assistance) with those out of traditional schooling to achieve their High School Diplomas. GED tutoring spans 4 different subjects, Language Arts, Science, Social Studies, Mathematics, etc. Program Benefits : Childcare assistance if eligible , Education award upon successful completion of service , Health Coverage , Stipend , Training .
