Job Title: Middle School Head Basketball Coach

Reports To: Athletic Director / School Principal

Position Type: Part-Time / Seasonal

Position Summary

We are seeking an energetic and dedicated Middle Grades Basketball Coach to lead our student-athletes. This position is responsible for teaching fundamental basketball skills, promoting teamwork and sportsmanship, and fostering a positive, inclusive environment where middle school students (grades 6-8) can grow both athletically and personally.

Key Responsibilities

• Skill Development: Teach core basketball fundamentals, offensive/defensive strategies, and conditioning tailored to middle-school skill levels.

• Practice & Game Management: Plan and lead daily practices, manage game-day logistics, and execute game strategies.

• Student Safety: Ensure the physical and emotional safety of all student-athletes during practices, games, and team travel.

• Academic & Behavioral Oversight: Monitor student-athlete eligibility, maintaining high standards for sportsmanship, discipline, and academic standing.

• Communication: Maintain clear, professional communication with school administration, parents, players, and game officials.

• Equipment & Facilities: Oversee the care, issuance, and inventory of uniforms and equipment, and respect facility usage guidelines.

Qualifications

Category Requirement Education High school diploma required Experience 1-3 years of coaching or playing experience at the middle school, high school, or youth level. Certifications First Aid/CPR/AED certification (or willingness to obtain before the start). Requirements Successful completion of background check and state athletic association credentialing (if applicable).
