Position Overview
Stand-By Personnel is seeking a dependable Brake Press Helper for a night-shift manufacturing opportunity in Claremore. This position supports the primary Brake Press Operator with machine setup, material handling, part inspection, tooling changes, and general production activities involved in forming metal components.
The ideal candidate has previous manufacturing, metal fabrication, warehouse, or machine-operation experience and is comfortable working with sheet metal, measuring tools, and industrial equipment.
Previous brake press experience is a plus but not required. Candidates with strong mechanical aptitude, accurate measurement skills, and a willingness to learn may be considered.
Required Experience & Skills
Manufacturing, metal fabrication, or warehouse experience preferred
Basic machine-operation experience preferred
Brake press experience is a plus but not required
Ability to accurately use a tape measure
Familiarity with calipers, gauges, or similar measuring tools preferred
Ability to use basic hand tools safely
Basic math skills for measuring and verifying dimensions
Strong attention to detail and part quality
Ability to follow work orders and production instructions
Ability to follow basic blueprints
Strong mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn
Dependable attendance and punctuality
Ability to work effectively as part of a production team
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Assist the Brake Press Operator with daily production activities
Help set up the brake press for assigned jobs
Assist with forming metal components according to specifications
Review work orders and production instructions
Follow basic blueprints and drawings
Load sheet metal and components onto the brake press
Unload formed parts safely
Position materials correctly for processing
Use measuring tools to verify completed dimensions
Inspect parts for proper bends and angles
Identify dimensional or quality concerns
Stack and organize completed components
Package and label finished parts when required
Prepare parts for the next production stage or shipment
Assist with tooling, die, and punch changes under supervision
Remove scrap and recyclable materials
Maintain clean and organized work areas
Report equipment problems, defects, or safety hazards promptly
Follow all company safety and PPE requirements
Perform additional fabrication and production duties as assigned
Brake Press Support
Candidates may assist with:
Machine setup
Material positioning
Sheet metal handling
Part loading and unloading
Bend operations
Tooling preparation
Die and punch changes
Dimensional inspection
Finished-part handling
General production support
The Brake Press Helper works under the direction of the primary Operator or supervisor and should be willing to learn additional machine-operation skills over time.
Blueprint & Work Order Responsibilities
Candidates should be able to:
Read basic work orders
Follow production instructions
Interpret basic fabrication drawings
Identify required measurements
Follow specified dimensions
Understand basic part orientation
Communicate unclear instructions before processing materials
Measurement & Inspection
Candidates may regularly use:
Tape measures
Calipers
Gauges
Other basic measuring tools
Responsibilities include:
Checking finished dimensions
Verifying bend locations
Checking bend angles
Identifying incorrectly formed components
Confirming parts meet applicable production requirements
Communicating quality concerns promptly
Tooling, Dies & Punches
Under the guidance of an experienced Brake Press Operator or supervisor, Helpers may assist with:
Tooling changes
Die changes
Punch changes
Tool preparation
Machine setup
Proper tooling storage
Candidates must follow all machine-safety procedures when assisting with setup or tooling changes.
Material Handling
Load and unload sheet metal
Move components throughout the work area
Position materials for machine operation
Stack finished parts
Stage products for additional processing
Package and label components when required
Remove scrap and recyclable materials
Maintain organized material areas
Preferred Qualifications
Brake press experience

Physical Requirements
Ability to repeatedly lift and move approximately 3050 lbs
Ability to stand for extended periods throughout the shift
Frequent bending, reaching, lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling
Ability to safely handle sheet metal and fabricated components
Manual dexterity required for tools and measurement equipment
Comfortable performing repetitive and physically active production work
Ability to safely work around brake presses and other industrial machinery
Ability to wear all required PPE
Safety & PPE
Candidates must follow all applicable machine and shop safety requirements, including use of:
Safety glasses
Gloves
Steel-toe shoes or boots
Additional PPE as required
Equipment concerns, unsafe conditions, or potential hazards must be reported promptly.
Work Environment
Industrial manufacturing and metal fabrication environment
Regular work around sheet metal, brake presses, tooling, and production equipment
Exposure to normal shop noise, metal, dust, and machinery
Hands-on position involving material handling, machine support, inspection, and production work
Consistent 5:00 PM 3:30 AM night-shift schedule
Strong emphasis on safety, accuracy, teamwork, productivity, and dependable attendance
