Branch Supervisor, Kelver Library

Are you an experienced leader who knows how to build strong teams, foster accountability, and create an environment where employees can do their best work? Do you enjoy balancing leadership, operations, coaching, and community engagement while helping a library grow and evolve in meaningful ways?

Arapahoe Libraries is seeking a Branch Supervisor to lead daily operations at Kelver Library, support and develop employees, and help strengthen a positive culture of service, collaboration, and community connection. You'll play an important role in guiding staff, supporting organizational priorities, and helping ensure Kelver Library continues to be a welcoming and valued resource for the community.

About the Role

Located in Byers, Kelver Library serves a small and thriving community where neighbors support one another and meaningful local connections are part of daily life.

As an important community hub, the library brings people together through programs, creative learning opportunities, community partnerships, and services for all ages. From a variety of events to a monthly mobile food pantry, Kelver Library helps connect residents with resources, experiences, and one another.

The Branch Supervisor plays a key role in supporting employees, strengthening team culture, and ensuring excellent service for the community. This position balances staff development, community engagement, customer relations, and operational oversight while helping guide the library's continued growth and success.

Key Responsibilities

Operations

  • Oversee daily library operations by allocating resources, prioritizing work, sharing information, and making decisions that support efficient branch operations.
  • Troubleshoot facility and equipment concerns and coordinate with other departments as needed.
  • Create staff schedules that ensure appropriate coverage and excellent service.
  • Provide direct patron assistance and support collection maintenance and materials handling as needed.

Supervision and Leadership

  • Recruit, interview, hire, train, and develop employees
  • Monitor performance, provide coaching and feedback, and support professional growth.
  • Manage scheduling, timekeeping, assignments, priorities, and department operations.
  • Foster collaboration, communication, team building, and adaptability.
  • Support organizational initiatives and contribute to branch-level planning.
  • Lead by example and work alongside staff to support excellent service.

Customer Relations

  • Build positive relationships with staff, patrons, community organizations, and local partners.
  • Resolve concerns by researching issues, evaluating options, and identifying solutions.
  • Support outreach and relationship-building efforts that strengthen community connections.

Projects and Organizational Contributions

  • Participate in project teams and cross-functional initiatives.
  • Contribute to district work as a team member or project manager.
  • May lead district trainings and support broader organizational priorities.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Two years of similar or related experience, such as library service or customer service.
  • 2-4 years of successful supervisory experience.
  • Experience teaching, training, or mentoring others. • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to demonstrate effective leadership skills, including practical thinking, problem solving, adaptability, coaching, mentoring, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to keep confidential information.
  • Ability to travel between facilities. Ability to work varying shifts, including evenings and weekends.
  • Ability to work independently, be proactive, and show initiative.
  • Ability to prioritize and delegate tasks.
  • Intermediate technology skills for Microsoft 365 (Word, Excel, Outlook), Microsoft Edge, and Microsoft Teams, with the ability to learn and apply new technologies.
  • Ability to demonstrate curiosity in the technological and online resources the library provides and learn alongside patrons.
  • Ability to communicate new ideas, products, and services in a positive and engaging manner.
  • Demonstrated enthusiasm for an environment of constant change.
  • Ability to work with people of all ages and diverse backgrounds.

Preferred:

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with children and teens.
  • One year of library experience.
  • Spanish-language skills.
