Role Description Brass Instructors and Woodwinds Instructors at Sharp Studios LLC will provide one-on-one and small group instruction on brass and/or woodwind instruments to students of varying ages and skill levels. Day-to-day responsibilities include planning and delivering engaging lessons, developing individualized learning goals, selecting appropriate repertoire, and tracking student progress. Instructors will prepare students for performances, including monthly open mics, recitals, auditions, and school ensemble participation, while encouraging healthy practice habits and fundamental technique. The role also involves communicating with caregivers or adult students about progress, scheduling lessons, and using studio resources such as the sheet music library to support instruction. This is a contract role that is fully on-site, located in Frederick, MD, with teaching hours determined in coordination with the studio’s schedule and student demand.

• Demonstrated proficiency in high and low brass instruments

• Demonstrated proficiency in at least 3 woodwind instruments, with strong performance and pedagogical skills.

• Experience teaching private or group instrumental lessons, including lesson planning, curriculum development, and student progress assessment.

• Ability to work effectively with learners of different ages, backgrounds, and skill levels, fostering an inclusive and encouraging learning environment.

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, including clear feedback, professional email and in-person communication, and dependable scheduling practices.

• Familiarity with standard band and orchestral repertoire, method books, and technique-building materials for brass and woodwinds.

• Reliable time management and organizational skills, with the ability to manage a teaching schedule and maintain accurate records.

• Bachelor’s degree in Music, Music Education, or related field preferred; equivalent professional experience considered.

• Comfort working in a community-focused studio setting, supporting student performances and studio events as needed.
