We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented professional to join our bakery team and help create high-quality sourdough breads that meet our standards for flavor and consistency. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys an early morning routine, working in a fast-paced, hands-on environment and takes pride in producing fresh baked goods.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare doughs, batters, starters, and other bread components according to established recipes and production schedules.
  • Mix, knead, proof, shape, score, and bake a variety of breads and related products.
  • Monitor oven temperatures, baking times, and product quality to ensure consistent results.
  • Measure ingredients accurately and maintain proper portioning and quality standards.
  • Inspect finished products for appearance, texture, and doneness before display or distribution.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary work area in compliance with food safety guidelines.
  • Store ingredients and finished products properly to preserve freshness and reduce waste.
  • Collaborate with team members to meet daily production goals and adjust to changing demand.
  • Follow all safety, hygiene, and equipment-use procedures.
  • Assist with inventory, restocking, and basic equipment cleaning and maintenance as needed.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience in baking, bread production, or a similar food preparation role is preferred.
  • Knowledge of dough handling, fermentation, shaping techniques, and baking equipment.
  • Ability to follow recipes, production instructions, and food safety standards accurately.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to product quality.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a team-oriented, deadline-driven environment.
  • Good time management and organizational skills.
  • Physical ability to stand for extended periods, lift moderate weights, and perform repetitive tasks.
  • Flexibility to work early mornings, weekends, holidays, or varying shifts as required. 
  • 3-4 days per week needed during summer, with more hours during the busy season. Typical hours are 4:30am to 12PM.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with artisan breads, sourdough, laminated doughs, or specialty baked goods.
  • Familiarity with commercial ovens, mixers, proofers, and other bakery equipment.
  • Basic understanding of ingredient functions and dough development.
  • Creative interest in developing new bread varieties or improving existing recipes.
