We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented professional to join our bakery team and help create high-quality sourdough breads that meet our standards for flavor and consistency. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys an early morning routine, working in a fast-paced, hands-on environment and takes pride in producing fresh baked goods.
Responsibilities
- Prepare doughs, batters, starters, and other bread components according to established recipes and production schedules.
- Mix, knead, proof, shape, score, and bake a variety of breads and related products.
- Monitor oven temperatures, baking times, and product quality to ensure consistent results.
- Measure ingredients accurately and maintain proper portioning and quality standards.
- Inspect finished products for appearance, texture, and doneness before display or distribution.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary work area in compliance with food safety guidelines.
- Store ingredients and finished products properly to preserve freshness and reduce waste.
- Collaborate with team members to meet daily production goals and adjust to changing demand.
- Follow all safety, hygiene, and equipment-use procedures.
- Assist with inventory, restocking, and basic equipment cleaning and maintenance as needed.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in baking, bread production, or a similar food preparation role is preferred.
- Knowledge of dough handling, fermentation, shaping techniques, and baking equipment.
- Ability to follow recipes, production instructions, and food safety standards accurately.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to product quality.
- Ability to work efficiently in a team-oriented, deadline-driven environment.
- Good time management and organizational skills.
- Physical ability to stand for extended periods, lift moderate weights, and perform repetitive tasks.
- Flexibility to work early mornings, weekends, holidays, or varying shifts as required.
- 3-4 days per week needed during summer, with more hours during the busy season. Typical hours are 4:30am to 12PM.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with artisan breads, sourdough, laminated doughs, or specialty baked goods.
- Familiarity with commercial ovens, mixers, proofers, and other bakery equipment.
- Basic understanding of ingredient functions and dough development.
- Creative interest in developing new bread varieties or improving existing recipes.
