Responsibilities

The Division of Medical Oncology and Hematology seeks an early- to mid-career medical oncologist to join and help expand the Mayo Clinic Arizona Breast Cancer Program. The ideal candidate will have a strong clinical and academic focus in breast oncology, with a commitment to advancing patient care, clinical research, and innovation.

This role includes participation in a multidisciplinary breast cancer clinic, development and leadership of investigator-initiated and cooperative group clinical trials, mentorship of trainees and junior faculty, and recruitment of future colleagues. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to build a nationally and internationally recognized academic practice while helping shape the future of breast cancer care across the continuum of disease.

Cancer care at Mayo Clinic is delivered collaboratively across Arizona, Florida, and Minnesota, providing access to enterprise-wide resources that include more than 250 hematologists and oncologists, over 2,000 faculty members involved in cancer care, state-of-the-art CORE research facilities, world-class pathology services, and integrated clinical and translational data platforms. The Breast Cancer Program actively participates in the Alliance for Clinical Trials in Oncology, the NCI Experimental Therapeutics Clinical Trials Network (ETCTN), and numerous industry-sponsored and international collaborative studies. The program is further strengthened by participation in a Breast Cancer Specialized Program of Research Excellence (SPORE), creating unique opportunities for translational and clinical investigation.

The Division also supports an ACGME-accredited Hematology/Oncology Fellowship and the highly ranked Mayo Clinic Alix School of Medicine in Arizona, providing abundant opportunities for education and mentorship.

Mayo Clinic maintains a strategic alliance with Arizona State University (ASU), established in 2016 through the Mayo Clinic and ASU Alliance for Health Care. This collaboration spans biomedical research, digital health, workforce development, and medical technology innovation. The nearby ASU Health Futures Center and the rapidly growing Discovery Oasis biotechnology corridor, located adjacent to the Mayo Clinic campus, further enhance opportunities for scientific collaboration and innovation. Faculty may hold adjunct appointments at ASU and engage in collaborative research and educational activities with ASU faculty and trainees.

Mayo Clinic continues to make substantial investments in the expansion of its Phoenix campus, including significant growth in clinical, research, and educational infrastructure. Located in Phoenix and Scottsdale, our Arizona campuses offer an exceptional professional environment and an outstanding quality of life in the Sonoran Desert.

This is an exciting and pivotal time to join a rapidly growing Breast Cancer Program and contribute to the future of breast cancer care, research, and education at Mayo Clinic.
