Bridge Inspector
Location: Indianapolis, IN (7155 Shadeland Station Way)
Pay Range: $70,000$95,000 annually
Overview
A Bridge Inspector is needed to support and eventually lead bridge inspection efforts across Indiana. This role offers a strong mix of field inspections, technical reporting, and cross-discipline coordination, with a clear growth path into a Bridge Inspection Team Leader position. The ideal candidate brings hands-on bridge experience, strong attention to detail, and a desire to grow within a collaborative, safety-focused infrastructure environment.
Key Responsibilities
Assist with onsite bridge inspections in accordance with state and federal guidelines
Perform data collection, documentation, and preparation of bridge inspection reports
Manage bridge inspection equipment and coordinate inspection schedules and personnel
Support and eventually lead onsite bridge inspection activities
Coordinate with roadway, water, environmental, survey, and utility engineering teams
Ensure inspection activities meet quality, safety, and regulatory standards
Required Skills and Qualifications
3 or more years of experience related to bridge design, construction, or maintenance
Experience assisting with or performing bridge inspections
Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Word
Ability to safely traverse uneven terrain and work in field environments
Valid drivers license
Willingness to travel for bridge inspections, including day and overnight trips
Willingness to pursue Indiana Bridge Inspection Team Leader certification
Preferred Skills
Bachelors degree in engineering or engineering technology from an ABET-accredited institution
Engineer in Training (EIT) certification
Licensed Professional Engineer (PE)
Knowledge of INDOT bridge inspection guidelines
