Bridge Superintendent

Lead a Landmark Infrastructure Project in the Hudson Valley

A. Servidone Inc. / B. Anthony Construction Corp. JV is seeking an experienced Bridge Superintendent to lead field operations for the Breakneck Bridge Connector Project in Cold Spring, New York.

This landmark infrastructure project is part of the Hudson Highlands Fjord Trail initiative and will significantly improve safety, accessibility, and visitor circulation at one of New York State's most heavily visited outdoor destinations.

The project includes:

  • Construction of a new pedestrian bridge spanning active Metro-North railroad tracks
  • Construction of a new pedestrian bridge over Route 9D
  • Elevated boardwalk systems
  • ADA-accessible pathways and trail connections
  • Visitor access and circulation improvements
  • Work within active transportation corridors requiring extensive stakeholder coordination

This is a technically challenging project involving bridge construction, structural steel erection, crane operations, railroad coordination, complex sequencing, and construction within highly constrained work zones.

We are looking for a hands-on Bridge Superintendent with a strong background in bridge and heavy civil construction who can lead field operations safely, efficiently, and professionally.

The Opportunity

Reporting directly to the Project Manager, the Bridge Superintendent will be responsible for the overall execution of field operations, including safety performance, subcontractor coordination, schedule execution, quality control, and daily construction activities.

This role offers the opportunity to lead construction on a highly visible infrastructure project that will become a defining feature of the Hudson Valley transportation and recreation network.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead all daily field operations and construction activities
  • Manage foremen, crews, subcontractors, equipment, and material resources
  • Coordinate all work associated with bridge construction and structural installations
  • Oversee crane operations, critical lifts, and bridge erection activities
  • Coordinate construction activities adjacent to active railroad operations and within approved work windows
  • Manage installation of elevated boardwalks, trail infrastructure, and ADA-accessible pathways
  • Conduct daily safety meetings, toolbox talks, and pre-task planning sessions
  • Enforce all project safety requirements and company policies
  • Develop and manage short-term and long-term construction sequencing plans
  • Maintain weekly and monthly look-ahead schedules
  • Monitor productivity, manpower utilization, equipment usage, and schedule performance
  • Coordinate with project management, engineers, inspectors, railroad representatives, and project stakeholders
  • Review plans, specifications, and contract requirements to ensure compliance
  • Manage quality control efforts and ensure work is performed in accordance with project standards
  • Identify and resolve field issues while maintaining project objectives and milestones

Qualifications

  • Minimum 10 years of heavy civil construction experience
  • Proven experience as a Superintendent on bridge and heavy civil construction projects
  • Experience leading bridge construction projects from start to finish preferred
  • OSHA 30 Certification required
  • Experience managing subcontractors and multiple concurrent work activities
  • Experience with crane operations, structural erection, and complex construction sequencing
  • Ability to read and interpret plans, specifications, and construction drawings
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
  • Ability to manage work in active transportation corridors and constrained construction environments
  • Railroad project experience preferred
  • Experience coordinating with public agencies, owners, and regulatory stakeholders preferred

Schedule & Location

Project Location: Cold Spring, NY

Schedule: Monday through Friday, approximately 7:00 AM - 5:00 PM. Additional hours, weekend work, and schedule adjustments may be required based on project activities, railroad work windows, and construction operations.
