Step into a shop where craftsmanship still matters. As our Manual Machinist in Fremont, CA, you’ll take a print from concept to finished part—setting up your own machines, proving out first articles, and holding tight tolerances on one-off and short-run work.
A day in the life
Start of shift: Review blueprints and work instructions, choose tooling and workholding, and set up a Bridgeport mill or a conventional engine lathe.
First article: Touch off tools, zero your references, and run turning, milling, drilling, and tapping operations. Verify dimensions with calipers, micrometers, and gauges.
Production: Maintain tight tolerances while adapting to varying materials and part features. Troubleshoot chatter, finish, or dimensional issues and make on-the-fly adjustments.
Collaboration: Partner with engineers, supervisors, and teammates to refine setups and improve throughput and quality.
Closeout: Document results, perform routine machine maintenance, and keep your area clean and organized.
What you’ll be responsible for
Setting up and operating manual machining equipment, primarily Bridgeport mills and conventional lathes
Interpreting blueprints, drawings, and work instructions to determine machining approach
Executing turning, milling, drilling, and tapping with precision
Inspecting parts with calipers, micrometers, and gauges to confirm they meet specifications
Upholding tight tolerances and high-quality standards
Keeping machines and work areas maintained and clean
Diagnosing machining issues and adjusting setups, speeds/feeds, or tooling as needed
Working cross-functionally to drive process improvements
What you bring
3+ years as a Manual Machinist (or equivalent hands-on experience)
Proficiency with Bridgeport mills and conventional lathes
Ability to read and act on blueprints and technical drawings
Solid understanding of machining fundamentals, tooling, and materials
Proven use of precision measuring instruments
Strong attention to detail and quality mindset
Comfort working independently and within a team
Preferred
Experience with a ProtoTRAK mill
Background in prototype or low-volume environments
Basic familiarity with CNC machining

Full-time role based in Fremont, CA
Standard day shift (hours may adjust with production demand)
Shop setting with running machinery, typical noise levels, and metal materials
