EASD is seeking a Broadcasting Assistant to support our student broadcasting program. This is a part-time, after-school position with flexible evening hours based on the school's event schedule.

The Broadcasting Assistant will play a vital role in mentoring students and managing all aspects of student-led live and recorded productions. Broadcasting Equipment knowledge would be helpful, but not essential. All aspects of the broadcasting responsibilities can be learned.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and Mentor: Provide leadership, structure, and vision for the high school broadcasting program and mentor students involved in all phases of production.
  • Event Coverage: Help supervise student crews during broadcasts of school events such as athletic games, concerts, and assemblies. Responsible for attending and overseeing scheduled broadcasts alongside the broadcasting advisor.
  • Production Training: Assist students through all aspects of production including pre-production planning, camera operation, lighting, sound, streaming/recording, editing, and on-air presence.
  • Technical Oversight: Help maintain and manage broadcasting equipment including computers, cameras, microphones, editing software, and related technology. Ensure equipment is used safely and effectively.
  • Skill Development: Help facilitate weekly meetings to help students build technical and creative skills while managing project timelines and quality standards.

Ideal Candidates Will Have:

  • Experience preferred but not mandatory in broadcasting, media production, or a related field
  • Strong communication and mentorship skills
  • Ability to work flexible evening hours based on event schedules
  • A passion for working with high school students in an educational setting

Candidates who receive a conditional offer of employment with the Elkhorn Area School District must successfully complete a background check, physical and tuberculosis test, and drug screening. Employment is contingent upon verification of work eligibility through E-Verify.
