JOB SUMMARY:
The Line Cook is responsible for the preparation of all grilled, deep-fried, cold pantry, broiler, and sauteed items in addition to all breakfast orders if applicable. He/She is also responsible for proper plate presentation of all assigned station items. Line Cooks work in a high-volume area preparing a wide variety of items. This function will be performed in accordance with departmental policies, practices, and procedures and within the framework and intent of Ark Las Vegas standards.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Prepare various basic food items on the grill, deep fryer, and cold pantry.
- Broiler experience
- Place the prepared food on plates, platters, etc., in an appetizing and appealing manner to be served according to company standards and training.
- Organize the cooking line for safety and efficiency.
- Additional related duties as requested by the kitchen supervisory staff.
- Follow all applicable safety procedures while at their workstation.
- Ensures that all food is prepared on clean surfaces (and with clean utensils) in accordance with restaurant and state Health Department regulations.
- Ensures that food quality meets standards prior to being served.
- Employees are always appropriately groomed.
- Responsible for proper uniform attire and proper name tag.
- Ensure that rules and regulations in the employee handbook are always adhered to.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to work from a standing position for extended periods of time.
- Ability to lift 50-70 pounds repeatedly.
- Ability to push and/or pull 200-300 pounds on wheels.
- Ability to perform reaching, stooping (and/or crouching) motions repeatedly.
- Dexterity in the hands and fingers is needed to manipulate tools, utensils and food products for proper service and presentation.
- Visual abilities (closeness and depth perception) to ensure quality food preparation and personal safety with various types of equipment.
- Physical tolerance is needed to work environments below 60 degrees and those that will exceed 100 degrees as well as areas of high humidity.
- Must have the sense of smell and taste needed to ensure quality food preparation.
NON-PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Must possess basic reading skills.
- Must possess basic mathematical skills.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
- High school education or equivalent.
CERTIFICATE/LICENSE:
- Employment eligibility for the United States
