Overview:

Reports to:Assistant Manager, BSA / AML Monitoring

 

Functions Supervised: None

 

Primary Functions: The BSA/AML Monitoring Analyst I is responsible for monitoring, investigating, and reporting suspicious activities in compliance with the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) and Anti-Money Laundering (AML) regulations. This role ensures the timely and accurate filing of Suspicious Activity Reports (SARs) and Currency Transactions Reports (CTRs) for the Credit Union and Credit Union Service Organizations (CUSOs).

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Review and analyze alerts and case referrals related to SARs and CTRs, conducting timely triage to determine filings to Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCEN). Escalate issues as appropriate, and ensure investigations and reports are completed and filed within established regulatory deadlines.
  2. Verify the receipt and accuracy of branch CTRs to process and perform FinCEN e-ling daily.
  3. Conduct detailed investigations using internal systems, member profiles, and external resources
  4. Draft and complete SARs for filing in accordance with regulatory timelines and internal standards.
  5. Monitor and validate transactions that meet the CTR filing threshold.
  6. Maintain related supporting documentation and records of decisions on all regulatory reports to ensure audit readiness.
  7. Maintain detailed documentation of investigations, findings, and decisions in accordance with internal procedures and regulatory expectations.
  8. Identify and detect restricted account activities during transaction investigations, escalating accounts to relevant business units for possible restrictions or discontinuation of services.
  9. Utilize credit union training platforms, including third-party vendors, to support continued education, professional growth, and development. Remain informed of emerging AML trends, typologies, and evolving regulatory expectations relevant to BSA processes.
  10. Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications:

Education: High school graduate or equivalent.

 

Creditable Experience in Lieu of Education:  N/A

 

Experience/Skills: A minimum of two years of progressively responsible experience in financial operations or a related compliance role. Demonstrates advanced investigative and analytical skills, with the ability to interpret complex data and identify patterns indicative of suspicious activity. Possesses excellent verbal and written communication abilities, enabling clear documentation and effective collaboration across teams. Brings a thorough understanding of accounting principles and balancing procedures, supporting accurate financial analysis. Exhibits strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills, exercising sound independent judgment in high-stakes compliance scenarios. Well-versed in business law and regulatory requirements, particularly the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) and Anti-Money Laundering (AML) regulations. Prior experience in roles involving routine investigative work is highly valued.

 

Tenure: Assignment to BSA/AML Monitoring Analyst II (Category 12), requires minimum of twelve months tenure in the BSA/AML Monitory Analyst I (Category 13) position with performance that meets or exceeds expectations. Assignment to BSA/AML Monitoring Analyst III (Category 11), requires minimum of twelve months tenure in the BSA/AML Monitoring Analyst II (Category 12) position with performance that meets or exceeds expectations. Assignment to Senior BSA/AML Monitoring Analyst (Category 10), requires minimum of twelve months tenure in the BSA/AML Monitoring Analyst III (Category 11) position with performance that meets or exceeds expectations. Assignment to these roles may be determined by candidate's education or relevant experience. Directly related work experience and/or accelerated completion of required training may be substituted in lieu of the tenure requirement.

Compensation:

Starting base salary will be determined based on candidate experience, qualifications, education, and applicable local or state wage requirements, and will fall within the range provided below. In accordance with our Salary Administration policy, new hire base salaries generally fall between the minimum and midpoint of the listed range.

: $57,484 - $90,230 annually

Salary Pay Range: 12

: $53,226 - $81,405 annually

Salary Pay Range: 13
