The California Department of Social Services (CDSS) is seeking highly motivated and detail-oriented analysts to join the Budget Bureau. This position provides critical fiscal support to departmental programs and plays a key role in the development and administration of the Governor's Budget. Budget Bureau analysts work in a fast-paced, budget-focused environment that directly contributes to the Department's ability to serve and protect California's most vulnerable children, adults, and families.
The ideal candidate possesses awareness of financial management skills, including experience working with multiple funding sources, planning and monitoring expenditures, and preparing accurate fiscal reports and analytical tools. This role requires the ability to manage and validate complex financial data, ensure the accuracy and completeness of fiscal documents, and maintain high standards of analytical precision.
Successful candidates will demonstrate the awareness of/ability to research financial resource availability by reviewing historical data, legislative changes, budget documents, and state and federal guidance. They must be able to document findings clearly and comprehensively to support informed fiscal decision-making.
This position also requires strong communication skills and the ability to present financial information to program staff, management, and other stakeholders. Analysts must be proficient in using tools such as Excel, PowerPoint, andwritten reports to convey complex fiscal concepts in a clear and organized manner.

Working Conditions
This position is eligible for hybrid work in accordance with the Governor's Executive Order N-22-25 and at the sole discretion of the Department of Social Services under California Government Code Section 14200. All telework schedules are subject to change and may be re-evaluated at any time. The incumbent will be expected to report for in office work and attend work related in-person events as deemed operationally necessary. Telework does not change the terms and conditions of employment, the essential functions of job duties, or required compliance with the CDSS policies. For positions advertised in more than one location, headquarter location may be designated on the selected candidate's primary residence location, and/or the closest CDSS location in accordance with operational need and available space. The successful candidate must reside in California upon appointment.
