About the role: The Build and Dependency Management Engineer is a technical role within a global, multi-site DevOps organization. The BDM engineer owns the build lifecycle and dependency management for one or more software products, acting as a bridge between DevOps infrastructure and product development teams. This role exists because build and dependency management requires dedicated, specialized ownership that cannot be absorbed by general DevOps or product development roles alone. What you'll be doing: · Build System Ownership Develop, maintain, and modernize product build systems (e.g., CMake, MSBuild, Bazel, or bespoke solutions) Drive migration from legacy build tooling toward modern, maintainable solutions Support and improve CI infrastructure (Jenkins, GitLab CI, or equivalent) Maintain and configure CI-related software on build nodes (Windows and Linux) · Dependency Management Own the dependency lifecycle: acquisition, versioning, caching, and distribution of third-party and internal libraries Collaborate on dependency orchestration tooling and services (e.g., Conan, Artifactory, or equivalent) Support legal clearing and compliance workflows for third-party dependencies · Compliance & Quality Tooling Support and improve automation for compliance-related tooling: SAST, binary analysis, threat response analysis, and similar Maintain product installers and packaging infrastructure · Cross-Team Alignment Collaborate with product development teams to understand build and dependency needs Align with DevOps, platform, and product teams on ownership boundaries and best practices Participate in stakeholder discussions to evaluate and improve build lifecycle processes Working at Siemens Software A collection of over 377,000 minds building the future one day at a time in over 200 countries.
