Job Summary

NIRSense is seeking a detail-oriented and hands-on Build and Test Technician to support our Mechanical Engineering Team. This role is critical to our product development cycle, focusing on the system-level assembly, integration, bring-up, and testing of new electronics hardware. In addition to building and validating complex electro-mechanical systems, this position plays an important role in refining build processes, improving documentation, supporting design iterations, and helping transition prototypes into repeatable manufacturing processes. The ideal candidate will be proficient in assembling complex electro-mechanical systems from engineering drawings, capable of meticulously executing test plans, identifying integration issues, and collaborating closely with engineers to solve technical challenges and continuously improve product quality and manufacturing readiness. Soldering and rework skills are highly desirable but secondary to strong system-build capabilities and a continuous improvement mindset

Key Responsibilities

System Assembly & Integration: Assemble and integrate electronic subsystems, PCBs, andcomponents into final enclosures and test racks. Build and route complex wire harnessesand cables according to diagrams. System Bringup: Power on and perform initial diagnostics and calibration on fullyassembled systems, working closely with engineers to troubleshoot and resolveintegration, communication, or power issues. Test Execution: Run established system-level test procedures and validation plans usingstandard test equipment (multimeters, oscilloscopes, power supplies, etc.). Mechanical Inspection and Assembly: Handle light mechanical assembly for various circuitboards as well as 3D printing, molding, and inspection of various subassemblycomponents. Rapid Prototyping: Set-up and processing of 3-D printed parts and part inspectionfollowing existing instructions. Prior experience with 3-D printing is desirable but not arequirement. Low Volume / Low Pressure molding: Setting up and operating a low volume / lowpressure molding machine and process following written procedures. Documentation: Meticulously document test results, system failures, and bugs. Initiate andorganize build and test documentation including work orders, travelers, and inventorytransfers. GMP Process Development: Provide expertise in developing and enforcing GMPprocedures and best practices.Minimum Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent required; Associates Degree (AS) in ElectronicsTechnology, Mechatronics, or a related field is a strong plus. Demonstrable experience in electro-mechanical or system-level assembly and testing inan ESD-controlled environment. Ability to read and interpret manufacturing and test instructions, system-level assemblydrawings, wiring diagrams, and schematics. Hands-on experience with basic electronic test and measurement equipment (DMM,oscilloscope, power supplies). Experience with running automated test scripts (e.g., Python). Familiarity with quality system procedures and documentation (e.g., ISO 9001). Strong attention to detail and excellent manual dexterity and visual acuity sufficient forhandling delicate electrical and mechanical tasks. Clear communication skills for reporting test results and collaborating effectively withengineers on debugging tasks.
