The BUILD (Baccalaureate for University of Indianapolis Learning Disabled) department at the University of Indianapolis is seeking applicants for a BUILD Tutor. The BUILD Tutor provides academic support to University students with learning disabilities.
This is a part-time, hourly, temporary position with no benefits. Filling multiple positions to begin on [DATE].
Responsibilities
- Follows the guidance and direction of supervisor(s)
- Demonstrates respectful, ethical, responsible behavior
- Abides by the University's policies, procedures, and rules
- Performs employee responsibilities as detailed in employee handbooks and policies
- Demonstrates regular and predictable attendance and punctuality
- Provides structured, scheduled tutoring sessions to students
- Keeps documentation on each session with students
- Communicates weekly with Director on student progress or concerns
- Increases knowledge and understanding of learning disabilities and academic strategies to better support students
- Attends staff meetings and special events of BUILD
- Monitors, reads, and scribes assigned exams
- Completes other duties, including special projects, as required or assigned
- Uses computers and related technology efficiently
Qualifications
- Experience working with college-aged students with learning disabilities is preferred
- Bachelor's degree is required
- Regular and predictable attendance is required
- Must have the knowledge and ability to use computers and related technology efficiently
- Good organizational skills are required
- Strong written and verbal communication skills are required
- Must be able to think outside of the box to come up with learning solutions
