Overview:
The Construction and General Maintenance employee will use their experience in concrete finishing, new drywall construction, plumbing and other specialties to provide plant wide support in these areas, always in compliance with EPA, Hazmat and OSHA safety rules and regulations.
Heres what youll do:
- Knowledge in planning, demolition and finishing construction projects, such as concrete, masonry, carpentry, and plumbing.
- Estimate the amount of construction materials such as wood, cement, paint, roofing, insulating, plumbing, etc., needed for projects.
- Evaluate, repair and maintain plumbing, electrical and HVAC systems in the building.
- Perform minor building, HVAC, plumbing, electrical and painting repairs as necessary.
- Ability to communicate well with property management and maintenance staff.
- Willingness to uphold company standards for safety, tenant service and efficiency.
- Communicate with maintenance management about any work that requires outside expert assistance.
- Work with tools and supplies necessary to complete projects.
- Maintain corporate safety procedures at all times and comply with access control regulations.
- Calibrate instruments and tools required for job responsibilities.
- Test equipment and machinery to ensure it is in good working order.
- Clean up job site at end of day and ensure all equipment is properly secured.
- Follow instructions to ensure safety of entire team.
- Implement preventative maintenance measures.
- Maintain inventory of repair equipment and supplies.
- Respond quickly in the event of an emergency, notify appropriate personnel and follow safety protocol.
- Perform other maintenance duties as requested.
- Maintain all necessary paperwork associated with the PSM program.
- Maintain a safe environment by following regulations and plant safety requirements.
- Manages outside contractors work as needed in Utility Systems. Will serve as lead to work crew on assigned projects.
- The employee shall take all reasonable measures and precautions to ensure compliance with 21CFR 110.
Heres what youll bring to the table:
- Experience with plumbing and electrical systems required.
- Excellent facility with common hand and power tools.
- Good construction math skills.
- Knowledge of a variety of construction and Power Tools.
- Familiar with some heavy equipment like scissor lifts, forklifts, etc.
- Problem-solving experience.
- General knowledge on all typical facilities utility systems (i.e. water systems, compressed air systems, steam systems, refrigeration systems, etc.).
- High school diploma or equivalent required; Trade school/occupational training desired but not required.
- Must be able to communicate verbally and in writing in English. Conversational Spanish is desired but not required.
- Must be able to perform basic arithmetic and algebraic functions. Good construction math calculation skills.
- Must be able to troubleshoot system problems and propose solutions. Problem solving skills are essential to this position.
- Forklift Certification desired, but not required. Plumbing certifications desired but not required.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be frequently required to; stand, walk, use hands to handle or feel, reach with hands and arms, stoop, speak, hear, taste and smell.
The employee will be required to climb ladders and stairs and work on tall equipment.
The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.
This position may require long hours including working weekends and nights.
