Convergentz, a division of Hunton Group, has a new and exciting opportunity to join our organization as a Building Automation System (BAS) Installation Technician. The selected candidate will be responsible for installing, terminating, testing, and documenting building automation system components and associated control wiring. This position works closely with project managers, controls technicians, programmers, electricians, mechanical contractors, and other trades to ensure BAS installations are completed safely, accurately, and in accordance with project drawings, specifications, applicable codes, and company standards.
Responsibilities:
Review control drawings, wiring diagrams, equipment submittals, floor plans, and project specifications before beginning installation.
Install BAS control panels, field controllers, sensors, actuators, relays, transducers, thermostats, network devices, and other control components.
Install and route low-voltage control, communication, and power wiring.
Terminate wiring at control panels, controllers, field devices, variable frequency drives, mechanical equipment, and network devices.
Label control panels, devices, cables, and terminations according to project and company standards.
Install and terminate BACnet MS/TP, Modbus, Ethernet, and other control communication networks.
Verify network polarity, shielding, grounding, topology, and end-of-line termination.
Coordinate installation activities with electricians, mechanical contractors, equipment vendors, and other project trades.
Identify discrepancies between field conditions, control drawings, mechanical plans, and project scope.
Communicate material shortages, installation conflicts, scheduling concerns, and potential change-order conditions to the project manager or supervisor.
Maintain accurate redline drawings showing device locations, wiring changes, panel modifications, and field conditions.
Complete daily reports, installation checklists, startup documentation, and other required project records.
Maintain an organized work area and protect tools, materials, equipment, and customer property.
Follow company safety policies, OSHA requirements, site-specific safety procedures, and lockout/tagout requirements.
Operate ladders, lifts, power tools, hand tools, meters, and testing equipment safely.
Support system startup, commissioning, functional testing, and project closeout activities as required.
Provide professional and courteous service when working with customers, subcontractors, and other project stakeholders.
Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Experience with electrical, HVAC, low-voltage, controls, or related construction work is preferred.
Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
Ability to work independently and as part of a project team.
Excellent customer service skills
Must have a valid driver's license and good driving record.
Ability to travel to project locations and work occasional overtime, nights, or weekends as project requirements dictate.
Requirements:
High School Diploma required
2-5 years' BAS controls or low voltage install experience a plus.
Basic computer and mobile-device proficiency.
Ability to regularly lift and carry tools, materials, and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
Ability to climb ladders and work from lifts or elevated platforms.
Ability to bend, kneel, crouch, crawl, reach, and work in confined or difficult-to-access areas.
Ability to work in mechanical rooms, ceilings, rooftops, construction areas, and outdoor environments.
Ability to work around operating mechanical and electrical equipment.
Ability to wear required personal protective equipment.
What You'll Bring
2+ years of experience installing and servicing BAS controls or electrical systems (preferred)
High school diploma or equivalent; trade school or technical certifications a plus
Strong communication skills-both written and verbal
Excellent customer service, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills
Technical and mathematical aptitude, with working knowledge of Microsoft Office and programming tools
Ability to work on construction sites and within active building environments
Valid Texas driver's license and a clean driving record
Willingness to travel locally as required
