We're seeking a skilled Facilities Technician to support the maintenance, operation, repair, and improvement of campus buildings, systems, and infrastructure. This role performs a mix of skilled and semi-skilled work, with a focus on building automation systems (BAS), HVAC, plumbing, and electrical components, while addressing a wide range of facilities-related needs.

As a Facilities Division Employee this position is deemed "essential" and must remain or report to work when classes are delayed or cancelled due to hazardous road or weather conditions, emergency circumstances or for other reasons as determined by operational need.

This position will be working on an alternative work schedule: 10-day work cycle then 4 consecutive days off.

Key Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Install, program, troubleshoot, calibrate, and maintain Building Automation Systems (BAS), including sensors, actuators, control valves, VFDs, thermostats, dampers, and related controls.
  • Monitor system performance, respond to alarms and diagnostics, commission new installations, and document software points and device connections.
  • Support HVAC and pneumatic control systems while interpreting schematics, blueprints, wiring diagrams, and control sequences.
  • Provide technical support and training to building occupants and staff on BAS operations.
  • Perform multi-trade maintenance and repair work across HVAC, electrical, plumbing, carpentry, masonry, and welding disciplines.
  • Maintain and repair building infrastructure, including pumps, piping, lighting, motors, ventilation equipment, air compressors, heating systems, doors, partitions, furniture, electrical fixtures, and circuits.
  • Conduct preventive maintenance, facility inspections, and corrective repairs to ensure safe and reliable operation of campus facilities.
  • Utilize a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) to manage work orders, document labor and materials, and track maintenance activities.
  • Maintain inventory, identify and report unsafe conditions, and recommend equipment replacement or system improvements.
  • Participate in emergency response activities, after-hours call coverage, lock changes, and snow/ice removal operations.
  • Support campus events through facility setup, teardown, and troubleshooting.
  • Obtain Pennsylvania Pesticide Applicator Certification in Swimming Pool Management (Category 24) within 180 days of hire.

Qualifications:

  • Proficiency in at least two trades: plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry, or mechanical systems
  • Working knowledge of BAS software and commercial system components
  • Ability to diagnose and resolve mechanical/electrical issues using tools and technical documentation
  • Familiarity with safety standards, CMMS, and Microsoft Office
  • Strong communication skills and teamwork mindset
  • Must obtain PA Pesticide Applicator Certification (Category 24 - Swimming Pool Management) within 180 days of hire

Minimum Qualifications

  • Three Years of experience in the maintenance, repair, or installation of HVAC equipment, related to digitally controlled equipment, or Building Automation (BA) Systems which includes at least one year working with industrial or commercial electronic controls and sensors. OR
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training which includes at least one year working with industrial or commercial electronic controls or sensors.

Special Requirements:

  • Possession of an active Pennsylvania non-commercial Class C Driver's license or equivalent.

Preferred Qualifications

Successful completion of the HVAC and Building Automation Technician Trainee Program.
