Installs, maintains and repairs HVAC controls, including pneumatic, electric and electronic controls.
Installation requires use of both hand tools and a computer to test and program the system as well as confirm operation.
Maintenance requires visual inspection of equipment and confirming with software optimal running performance.
Repairing systems include troubleshooting and diagnosing both with physical components and software by replacing parts or changing the program to ensure the components are operating as intended.
Troubleshoots and repairs HVAC control problems, including dampers, coils, HVAC steam related controls, small air handling equipment and all types of valves.
Adjusts and calibrates pneumatic/electronic devices.
Inspects and services controls on a scheduled basis.
Responds to service calls and troubleshoots problems.
Troubleshoots and tests controls using digital multi-meters, anemometers, infrared thermometers, gages, and digital/analog manometers.
Prepares estimates for the repair and/or installation of new HVAC systems and makes recommendations for such repairs and services.
Assists in training and developing apprentices by providing on the job instruction to basic tasks.
Performs housekeeping duties to maintain a clean, uncluttered and safe work environment and ensures shop equipment is in proper working conditions.
