RISE Academy is an alternative high school within Lawrence Public Schools. RISE is a trauma-informed school, grounded in restorative justice, that values relationships and mutual respect with the belief that all students want to be successful in school. RISE students learn in a competency based structure in an academic and social-emotional program that works to prepare students for an ever changing world after high school.

Position Summary:

RISE is seeking exceptional Building-Based Educators to join our team. The ideal candidates possess a growth mindset, value collaboration and continuous feedback, are passionate about their content, and hold an unwavering belief that all students are capable of meeting rigorous academic expectations. Building-Based Educators will provide instructional support, classroom coverage, and contribute to a positive and equitable school culture that ensures every student's success.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

Work collaboratively to align curriculum to the rigor of the MA Curriculum Frameworks

Check in daily with supervisor for coverage assignments

Support classroom teachers with instruction during the school day

Cover classes when lead teachers are absent

Complete regularly scheduled duties and assignments outside of the classroom

Follow regular teacher's lesson plans in a way that ensures consistency and optimal learning, and that encourages students to participate

Assign classwork and homework as necessary and according to teachers' instructions

Modify teaching styles to fit the learning styles of various students

Maintain a well-managed classroom and positive learning environment

Supervise students outside of class such as in hallways and cafeterias as needed

Demonstrate support and knowledge of the school's goals and mission

Track students' grades, attendance, and other student data with accuracy and attention to detail

Collaborate with school leadership to ensure teaching methods meet and exceed academic standards

Perform additional duties as assigned

Proven experience supporting English Language Learners

Ability to take initiative and succeed in a fast-paced environment

Calm and focused when faced with unexpected challenges

Capacity to create and maintain a positive learning environment that respects students' diverse backgrounds, identities, strengths, and challenges

Willingness to improve practice by taking and implementing frequent feedback

Strong collaboration, communication, and organizational skills

Humility, flexibility, and a good sense of humor

Qualifications & Requirements:

Bachelor's degree required; teaching license preferred

Experience working in an urban school setting strongly preferred

Demonstrated success working with culturally and linguistically diverse students

Ability to manage classroom environments effectively

Familiarity with Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks preferred

Bilingual skills are a plus

Pay Range

• $235 Per Diem
