DEFINITION:
Under the direct supervision of the Director of Planning, the incumbent is responsible for enforcement of the building code, property maintenance code, and other applicable city code requirements under the purview of the Planning Department.

1. Must possess a valid driver’s license.
2. Much of the work is completed outside, exposing the employee to all kinds of weather and construction site conditions, which can include fumes, airborne particles, dirt, and noise
MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
1. Ability to walk, climb, bend, and the ability to stand for long periods of time.
2. Ability to lift up to 10 pounds.
3. Ability to communicate orally and in writing.
4. Ability to communicate effectively with the public.
5. Ability to foster effective relationships within and outside the Department.
6. Ability to work independently and as a member of a team.
7. Working knowledge of personal computers and related word processing and spreadsheet applications.
8. Ability to review blueprints and building plans.
9. Must have the ability to interpret and effectively enforce the Building and Property Maintenance Codes.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
1. Possession of a high school diploma or GED equivalent.
2. Two years of experience related to building inspections or property maintenance enforcement.
3. Possession of the following certification or ability to obtain within six (6) months:
-ICC Building Inspector – B1
