About the Role
As a Building Engineer, you will be responsible for managing building automation systems including performing preventive and corrective maintenance across all building systems, with an emphasis on mechanical equipment and facility infrastructure such as HVAC and commercial refrigeration equipment. The candidate will also be responsible for contract procurement support and vendor oversight. This role entails interaction across departments within the organization. Our Building Operations team is responsible for planning, communication, execution, and continuous improvement of our headquarters located in Lake Forest, IL. This department is a primary responder to building emergencies, including but not limited to power outages, significant plumbing leaks, fire alarms, and security breaches.
The Building Engineer's core hours will be 8AM - 4PM, Monday through Friday, that may fluctuate depending on the time of year and football season. The role requires flexibility to work alternate hours as needed, including weekends and holidays. Rotational weekend shifts are required during the season. This is an hourly paid position.

Responsibilities
Technical
Monitor, troubleshoot and resolve Building Automation System (BAS) issues, including alarms, communication errors, and equipment malfunctions.
Contact and work with specialized vendors until issues are resolved.
Execute routine preventive maintenance and troubleshoot, diagnose, and facilitate repairs on all building systems and equipment:
HVAC: Install, troubleshoot, maintain, and repair commercial HVAC systems.
Kitchen Equipment: Assess and service a wide range of commercial kitchen equipment, including but not limited to ovens, fryers, refrigerators, freezers, ice machines, dishwashers, and various food prep equipment.
Plumbing: Diagnose and repair leaks in fixtures, clear clogs, replace faucets, toilets, and other plumbing components.
Electrical: Troubleshoot and repair electrical circuits, replace outlets, switches, light fixtures, ballasts, and perform minor wiring modifications in compliance with electrical codes.
Hydrotherapy Pools: Maintain the cleanliness, chemical balance, and proper functioning of hydrotherapy pools and associated equipment. This includes regular testing, cleaning, and preventative maintenance.
Fire Suppression: Annual inspections, monthly churn testing
Maintain accurate records of all maintenance activities, repairs, inspections, and equipment history. Utilize a CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System).
Inspect entire facility daily for any faults (including cosmetic), take initiative to repair, replace or recommend course of action.
Additional responsibilities include but are not limited to carpentry, doors, hardware, painting, drywall and repair.

Competitive Industry Pay
The Building Engineer is a full-time non-contract position. This position is an HOURLY (non-exempt) role.
The expected hourly rate for this role is $40- $45/per hour. Please note that due to job function, regular overtime (paid as time-and-a-half) is expected. Exact compensation may vary based on skills, experience, and other job-related factors. On-call rotation may apply.
