The Building Engineer operates and maintains one or more systems that provide an establishment with such services as heat, air-conditioning (cool, humidify, dehumidify, filter, and circulate air), refrigeration, steam or high temperature water or electricity.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Perform quality control checks, ensure the safety and effectiveness or reliability of systems and equipment.
Operate, maintain, and repair large-scale mechanical systems, including HVAC, boilers, chillers, and electrical systems in commercial or industrial buildings.
Ensure all machinery meets safety standards and operating procedures, including monitoring boiler water, fuel levels, and safety devices.
Supervise the installation and maintenance of mechanical equipment/systems.
Analyze problems and take appropriate action to ensure continuous and reliable operation of equipment and systems.
Develop operation, safety, and maintenance procedures or assist in their development.
Observe and interpret readings on gauges, meters and charts which register various aspects of the system's operation, adjusting controls to insure safe and efficient operation of the system and to meet demands for the service provided, recording in logs various aspects of the system's operation, keeping the engines, machinery and equipment of the system in good working order.
This engineer may direct and coordinate activities of other workers in performing tasks directly related to operating and maintaining the system or systems
Working knowledge of emergency generator systems, including testing protocols, preventive maintenance, and troubleshooting prefferred.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Must possess 5-7 years of experience in the operation and maintenance of equipment and systems.
DC 1st Class Engineer's License, desired
