At Genesis Residential, we believe exceptional communities are built through intentional service, operational excellence, and a team that takes pride in ownership.Position SummaryThe Building Engineer is responsible for the operation, maintenance, and optimization of all building systems at The Travis. This includes HVAC, electrical, plumbing, fire/life safety, and building automation systems, ensuring all equipment operates efficiently, safely, and in compliance with applicable standards. This role requires strong technical knowledge, the ability to troubleshoot complex systems, and a proactive approach to preventative maintenance to support consistent building performance in a luxury high‑rise environment.Key ResponsibilitiesBuilding Systems & MaintenanceOperate, maintain, and troubleshoot all major building systems, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, fire/life safety, and building automation systems (BMS)Monitor and maintain equipment such as chillers, boilers, pumps, and domestic water systems to ensure consistent performanceComplete service requests promptly and professionally, maintaining a high standard of quality and resident experiencePerform routine inspections of mechanical rooms, equipment, and common areas to identify and address issues earlyExecute preventative maintenance programs to reduce downtime and extend equipment lifeMaintain accurate service logs, equipment records, and compliance documentationAssist with system testing, commissioning, and ongoing performance optimizationIdentify opportunities to improve efficiency and control operating costsCoordinate and oversee vendors and contractors, ensuring work meets quality and safety standardsSupport capital projects, system upgrades, and ongoing building improvementsManage inventory and ordering of maintenance suppliesEnsure compliance with OSHA, EPA, and all applicable local and state regulationsSupport fire and life safety systems, including inspections, testing, and documentationMaintain a clean, organized, and safe work environmentWork closely with onsite leadership to prioritize service requests and operational needsSupport team training and share technical knowledge as neededParticipate in an on‑call rotation for after‑hours maintenance and emergenciesQualifications5–7+ years of experience in multifamily building maintenance, preferably in a high‑rise environmentStrong working knowledge of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical systemsExperience with BMS preferredAbility to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical documentsEPA certification required (or ability to obtain within 90 days)CPO or additional certifications preferredHigh school diploma or equivalent requiredBilingual (English/Spanish) is a plusTrade school or technical training preferred; degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or related field is a plusValid driver's license requiredSkills & AttributesStrong problem‑solving and troubleshooting abilitiesHigh attention to detail and ownership mindsetAbility to prioritize and manage multiple tasks in a fast‑paced environmentProfessional communication and customer service skillsTeam‑oriented with a proactive and solutions‑driven approachComfortable working a flexible schedule as needed and participating in an on‑call rotation for emergenciesAbility to operate maintenance tools and equipment, including power tools, ladders, and liftsBasic computer proficiency, including use of work order systems and standard office equipmentPhysical RequirementsAbility to walk, climb, lift, and access all areas of a high‑rise buildingAbility to lift up to 50 lbs independently and heavier with assistanceComfortable working in mechanical rooms, rooftops, confined spaces, and varying weather conditionsWhat We OfferCompetitive compensation based on experiencePerformance‑based bonus opportunitiesMedical, dental and vision insurancePaid time off and holidaysEqual Opportunity EmployerGenesis Residential is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
