Job Summary
Performs technical work enforcing the Florida Building Code under the general supervision of the Chief Building Inspector.
Duties and Responsibilities
Qualifications
Education
Experience
Minimum of 5 years of combined construction experience, including:
3 years supervisory capacity
2 years in the High Velocity Hurricane Zone (HVHZ).
Demonstrated ability to deliver presentations and speak effectively in public settings.
Experience with building inspections, code enforcement, and plan review preferred.
Demonstrated ability to lead, delegate, and review the work of others.
A comparable amount of training and experience may be substituted for the minimum qualifications.
Licenses & Certifications
Certifiable by the Broward County Board of Rules and Appeals as outlined in Chapter 1, Section 104 of the Broward County amendments to the Florida Building Code.
Certifiable by the Florida Building Code Administrators and Inspectors Board:
Standard Inspector (within 1 year of hire)
Plans Examiner (within 2 years of hire)
Must be a licensed Design Professional or Certified Contractor
Must obtain F.A.C.E (Florida Association of Code Enforcement) Levels I-IV certification within two (2) years of hire.
Ability to obtain FEMA NIMS certification up to G-400 level.
