Building / General Construction Technician – Manufacturing Facility

Sigma Inc. is seeking an experienced Building / General Construction Technician to support building maintenance, construction, and facility improvement projects at a manufacturing facility in Hicksville, NY. If you have experience in general construction, carpentry, drywall, painting, flooring, building maintenance, plumbing, or electrical repairs, this is an excellent opportunity to join a professional team while earning $30/hour.

Schedule

  • Friday: 12:00 PM – 9:30 PM
  • Saturday & Sunday: 9:00 AM – 7:00 PM
  • Three days per week
  • Hours may increase based on business needs
  • Overtime may be available

Pay

  • $30.00 per hour
  • W2 Contract Position
  • 3-Month Assignment

Job Responsibilities

As a Building / General Construction Technician, you will:

  • Perform general construction work including carpentry, drywall, painting, flooring, and minor structural repairs.
  • Complete routine building maintenance and corrective repairs.
  • Install, repair, and maintain doors, walls, ceilings, fixtures, and other building components.
  • Support facility renovation and improvement projects.
  • Read and interpret basic construction drawings, layouts, and specifications.
  • Ensure work complies with OSHA safety regulations, company policies, and GMP requirements when applicable.
  • Troubleshoot facility maintenance issues and provide effective solutions.
  • Coordinate with maintenance teams, engineering staff, and outside contractors.
  • Maintain tools, equipment, and work areas in a clean and safe condition.
  • Document completed work and report repair findings.
  • Perform additional maintenance and construction duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Must be at least 18 years old
  • Minimum 2–5 years of experience in:
    • General Construction
    • Building Maintenance
    • Commercial or Industrial Construction
    • Facility Maintenance
  • Basic knowledge of:
    • Carpentry
    • Plumbing
    • Electrical systems
    • Building maintenance
  • Ability to safely operate hand tools, power tools, and construction equipment
  • Strong understanding of OSHA safety practices
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings is a plus
  • English required; Spanish bilingual skills are preferred
  • Technical or trade school certification is preferred
