Job Responsibilities
The Citadel, The Military College of South Carolina is seeking two Building/Grounds Specialist to work in the Grounds Department. These roles will assist with the maintenance of all of campus grounds as well as assisting with event set up on campus; the responsibilities will include the following:
- Perform grounds/landscape maintenance functions, such as mowing, weed eating, edging, blowing, raking, etc. using grounds related equipment.
- Perform furniture moves and replacements campus-wide and specific to campus barracks.
- Perform event set-ups for various large and small scale events, including Parades and weekend events. Not limited to six weekend events per year: Matriculation, Parents Weekend, Homecoming, Accepted Students Day, Corp Day and Commencement.
- Perform minor adjustments/repairs to grounds related equipment.
Minimum Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.
- Valid South Carolina Drivers license is required.
- Must have relevant experience in ground maintenance and operating grounds related equipment to include; weed eaters, mowers and blowers required.
- Must be able to follow written and oral instructions.
- Must be in good health with adequate strength and endurance to perform the required work.
- Be able to lift objects weighing in excess of 50 pounds and carry them a distance of 50 feet; must be able to work off of elevated platforms.
- Must be able to work with minimum supervision.
- Must be able to communicate both orally and in writing.
- Some holiday and weekend work required.
- Must be able to work indoors and outdoors in temperature and humidity extremes including inclement weather.
- Operates vehicles, various lawn and grounds.
