Salary Ranges for both levels:
Building Inspector I: Min $48,582.22\u2013 Mid $60,350.58 per year
Building Inspector II: Min $56,142.83 \u2013 Mid $69,742.64 per year
JOB OVERVIEW: The purpose of this position is to inspect buildings and structures for compliance with applicable codes to protect the health, safety, and welfare of the public. The work is performed under the supervision of the Inspection Manager.

Building Inspector I:
Education
High school diploma or equivalent, vocational/technical training in building technology, engineering, construction, or related field.
Certifications
A valid motor vehicle operator's license required.
Must possess or obtain International Code Council certification as a Residential Combination Inspector within one year of official start date.
Certification in FEMA IS-100, IS-200, IS-700, IS-800, and IS-2200 required within the first six months of employment (obtained online).
Job Experience
Four (4) years of experience in construction, inspection, code enforcement or a related field; or any combination of education, training, and experience that provides equivalent knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Building Inspector II:
Education
High school diploma or equivalent, vocational/technical training in building technology, engineering, construction, or related field.
Certifications
A valid motor vehicle operator's license required.
International Code Council certification as a Residential Combination Inspector.
International Code Council certification as a Commercial Combination Inspector, or equivalent.
Certification in FEMA IS-100, IS-200, IS-700, IS-800, and IS-2200 required within the first six months of employment (obtained online).
Job Experience
Six (6) years building inspection and code enforcement experience; or any combination of education and experience that provides equivalent knowledge, skills, and abilities.
