The City of Boca Raton is hiring Building Inspectors I, II, and III (Structural) to perform field inspections and ensure construction projects meet city, state, and federal codes. What You'll Do
- Inspect construction, repairs, and existing buildings for code compliance
- Ensure work aligns with approved plans and specifications
- Identify code violations and issue notices or stop-work orders
- Re-inspect projects to verify corrections
- Maintain inspection reports and documentation
- Communicate with contractors, property owners, and the public
- Respond to complaints and safety concerns
- Assist with plan review and compliance checks
- Participate in emergency response and damage assessments
What You Bring
Building Inspector I
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 5+ years experience in construction trades
- Florida Standard Inspector Certification (or ability to obtain)
- Valid Florida driver's license
Building Inspector II
- All Inspector I requirements, plus:
- 1+ year of government inspection experience
- 2 certifications OR 1 certification + 1 plan examiner certification
Building Inspector III
- All Inspector II requirements, plus:
- 2+ years government inspection experience
- Multiple certifications + plan examiner certification
- Ability to handle complex projects and mentor junior inspectors
Preferred
- Florida contractor license
- Architect or Professional Engineer (PE) license
- Experience in structural inspections or large-scale construction
Additional Requirements
- Valid Florida driver's license
- Ability to pass background check, MVR, physical, and drug screening
- Availability for after-hours inspections and emergency response
