The City of Pasadena is looking for a Building Inspector II to perform field inspections of residential, multi-family, and minor commercial buildings and structures, and their electrical, plumbing and mechanical systems to verify compliance with state and local building, electrical, plumbing, mechanical and zoning codes and ordinances. The ideal candidate has experience in conducting building inspections for a governmental jurisdiction, inspecting architectural, structural, and accessibility compliance for commercial and residential occupancies; has the ability to work in a lead capacity, is detail-oriented, dependable, and has excellent decision-making ability. The candidate should be thoroughly familiar with the California Building Code Standards (Title-24 of the California Code of Regulations and Cal Green standards) and construction methods for a variety of construction types. Ability to read, interpret, and apply general and detailed information on design and construction plans, calculations, and reports. The successful candidate will possess excellent interpersonal skills and thorough knowledge of the principles, methods and safety hazards related to conducting building inspections. Experience with the use of electronic devices including handheld devices and software for permitting and plan reading is highly desirable.
