VIGO is working with an innovative HVAC optimisation company transforming how buildings consume energy. Their platform uses real-time control and predictive algorithms to reduce energy waste across multifamily buildings and hotels delivering meaningful savings in time, money, and carbon emissions.

As they continue their expansion across the East Coast, they’re looking to bring on a Building Intelligence Engineer to oversee projects across the greater Washington DC region.

Role Overview

To lead the integration of advanced optimisation software into building HVAC systems from feasibility analysis and initial modelling through to installation, testing, and long-term performance monitoring. You’ll be the key technical resource on the ground, ensuring systems run smart, efficiently, and in line with local energy standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Act as the local SME for building automation, HVAC control systems, and smart optimisation strategies
• Conduct technical surveys and energy assessments to identify savings potential
• Build energy models using utility data, system specs, and site inspections
• Manage the end-to-end rollout of optimisation tech on client sites
• Lead final testing and commissioning to ensure energy goals and incentive criteria are met
• Maintain knowledge of local regulations, including BEPS compliance and relevant utility incentives
• Coordinate with internal software engineers, control contractors, and client-side stakeholders
• Support live buildings as a regional technical contact for ongoing service delivery

The Ideal Candidate

• Degree-qualified in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, or Building Services preferred)
• 5–10 years’ experience in one or more of the following:
• • MEP design or consultancy
  • Building automation / BMS / HVAC controls
  • Energy auditing or energy services
• Experience with BAS/BMS platforms such as Niagara, Tridium, or Distech
• Confident managing retrofit projects end-to-end, including commissioning
• Familiar with regional incentive programs and performance standards
• Based in the DC-Maryland-Virginia region and happy to travel locally
• Passionate about climate technology, energy reduction, and building innovation
