Job Summary/Basic Function
About the position:
Lead and participate in a variety of skilled and semiskilled activities in the installation, maintenance and repair of plumbing fixtures and systems to maintain infrastructure in safe, sanitary, and code compliant working conditions; operate and maintain the campus potable water, sanitary, and storm sewer infrastructure; develop and implement plumbing projects; and manage assigned personnel.

Duties and Responsibilities
SAFETY:
Required Qualifications
Two years of experience at the journey level divided among a minimum two of the building, electrical, or mechanical trades; and such training as may have been gained through graduation from high school or vocational school; OR any equivalent combination of experience and training.
Possess or obtain within first 12 months of employment the PA DEP Water Plant Operator license. Maintain compliance with program requirements and license while employed in this University position. (Certification cost covered by employer)
Possess a wide range of knowledge concerning the use, application, and care of a wide range of hand tools and power tools.
Demonstrated knowledge of:
standard practices and tools of multiple trades.

Ability to:
plan, assign, supervise and evaluate work.
train and instruct staff on safety precautions.

make accurate estimates of time and materials required for repair and maintenance work.

Essential Functions

Individuals must be able to work in all kinds of climates. Work is both indoors and outdoors. Work may be in confined or otherwise restricted environments (such as in an excavated trench/hole). Work environment may be hot, cold, dry, wet, humid, and/or noisy from other construction activities or operation of building equipment. Individual will encounter dust, odors, debris, chemicals, mold, ACM, lead based paint and other potentially hazardous materials. May have to work in cramped spaces or otherwise uncomfortable positions in the performance of assigned tasks. Must be able to wear Personal Protective Equipment, when necessary, hard hats, respirators, eye protection, hearing protection, etc.
Physical dexterity in limbs and digits to operate hand and power-driven tools and equipment commonly used in the plumbing field to include frequent computer work.
Physical ability to lift, carry, push, and/or pull up to 50 pounds on a regular basis, and occasionally up to 100 pounds.
Ability to:
continually walk, stand, climb, stoop, bend, kneel, crawl, squat, reach in all directions and have full range of motion of arms, shoulders, back, hips and legs.
maintain balance working off the ground using ladders, scaffolds, and/or mechanical lifts.
to work in person on campus.
climb ladders and work in high, precarious places.
sit and/or stand for extended periods of time.
see and read with or without vision aids.
climb stairs.
hear, speak and write/type to exchange information with department personnel and campus community.
see to perform maintenance duties and read blueprints, drawings, and specifications.
Power grasping and hand/wrist twisting.
Advanced math skills (fractions, percentages, formulas, and equations)
Extensive writing skills (prepare and organize complex documents).
Possess and maintain a valid driver's license.
