The Building Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining the safety, functionality, and appearance of the Hatfield campus through preventative maintenance, repairs, and facility improvement projects. This position performs a wide variety of skilled building maintenance tasks, operates heavy equipment, responds to facility emergencies, and supports the reliable operation of production and support areas. Working independently and as part of a team, this role helps ensure a safe, efficient, and well-maintained environment for employees and operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform general building maintenance including carpentry, painting, masonry, flooring, concrete repairs, and structural maintenance.
  • Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain overhead doors, automated doors, docks, and related building systems.
  • Operate heavy equipment including loaders, backhoes, bobcats, Gradalls as needed.
  • Perform snow removal and seasonal grounds maintenance to maintain safe facility access.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and floor plans to complete maintenance and construction projects.
  • Create, update, and complete work orders using SAP or the company's maintenance management system.
  • Order and track maintenance parts and materials as required.
  • Perform preventive maintenance on facility assets to maximize equipment reliability.
  • Follow all safety procedures, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), confined space, and equipment operating requirements.
  • Respond to facility emergencies and maintenance requests in a timely manner.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives and collaborate with Operations, Engineering, and Maintenance teams on facility projects.

Core Skills / Competencies

  • Strong mechanical aptitude with experience in commercial or industrial building maintenance.
  • Working knowledge of carpentry, masonry, painting, flooring, and general construction techniques.
  • Experience operating heavy equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Ability to troubleshoot building systems and identify effective repair solutions.
  • Ability to read blueprints, technical drawings, and construction documents.
  • Strong organizational skills with experience managing work orders and maintenance documentation.
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities with a proactive approach to facility maintenance.
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills.
  • Commitment to maintaining a safe work environment and following all company safety policies.

Preferred Experience / Requirements

  • Minimum 3 years of industrial, commercial, or manufacturing building maintenance experience.
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Experience operating loaders, backhoes, bobcats, Gradalls, or similar heavy equipment.
  • Experience using SAP or a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) preferred.
  • Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physically demanding work including climbing, kneeling, bending, and working at heights.
  • Willingness to participate in emergency response activities, including snow removal and facility support during off-hours when necessary.
