About this opportunity:

Serves as a technical resource for property maintenance needs for multiple properties at different locations; assists the Property Manager in maintaining awareness with all property maintenance needs; recommends and coordinates a plan to ensure the protection and maintenance of property is maintained. Performs a variety of building maintenance and repair work for facilities, grounds, and vehicles. Assists Property Manager as needed with outside vendor services for maintenance and repairs. Ensures the day-to-day general maintenance and repair of the buildings, grounds, and vehicles are completed in accordance with accepted standards; Ensures all equipment remains in proper working order and compliance with standard operating procedures and safety standards; operates a Salvation Army vehicle to pick-up and/or deliver materials; maintains inventory of Salvation Army material as needed.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plans, schedules, and performs skilled maintenance of the interior and structural portion of all facilities to include plumbing and carpentry work as well as painting, maintenance of grounds, structures, fixtures, and decor through additions, repairs, adjustments, painting, or replacement.
  • Assists Property Manager with the coordination of all property maintenance needs and recommends a plan to ensure protection and maintenance of property is maintained.
  • Working alongside the Property Manager, monitors and evaluates work performed by outside contractors to ensure compliance with contract requirements and quality of work; participates in serving as liaison to internal and outside contract management to convey information related to compliance with work requirements including quality and timeliness of work performed.
  • Oversees the maintenance and care of the vehicle fleet; ensures vehicles meet the scheduled maintenance and performs operator's maintenance in accordance with established standards; may perform minor vehicle maintenance.
  • Fuels vehicle in accordance with state gasoline regulations and The Salvation Army standards.
  • Logs all mileage on standard forms; ensures the accuracy and completeness of the same.
  • Inspects, tests, and adjusts physical plant machinery; documents and maintains records of heating, cooling, piping, and electrical systems, and records in accordance with schedules.
  • Troubleshoots and repairs minor mechanical malfunctions and performs preventative maintenance and minor adjustments on a variety of equipment to include dishwashers, laundry machines, vent fans, etc.

Qualifications

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

Ability to meet attendance requirements.

Ability to read, write, and communicate the English language effectively.

Ability to perform strenuous, heavy work involving the lifting and carrying of heavy objects.

Ability to perform continuous walking, stooping, standing, and some climbing.

Ability to work under the pressure of deadlines and time constraints.

Ability to drive a vehicle safely and in compliance of all laws and regulations.

Duties require frequent periods of physical mobility including but not limited to standing, walking, climbing, stooping, squatting, and lifting. Physical duties may be relieved by brief or occasional periods of sitting.

Extensive amount of physical effort required associated with lifting, moving, and carrying heavy objects (up to 100 lbs.) frequently.
