Idaho Power — located in vibrant Twin Falls, Idaho — is looking for a _Building Maintenance Technician I_ _or II_ to join our Corporate Services & Communication team. What does aBuilding Maintenance TechnicianI or II do for us?


Under the general direction of the Facilities Maintenance Leader, this individual is responsible for safe, efficient operation and maintenance of buildings and systems including but not limited to HVAC, electrical, plumbing, life safety, and security.


Additional responsibilities include:


+ Providing support to other Maintenance Technicians as needed

+ Operating and maintaining building systems

+ Identifying and prioritizing building and facility maintenance concerns

+ Providing information to leaders regarding conditions of equipment and facilities

+ Helps maintain budget and administrate maintenance contracts

+ Builds and maintains trust of customers

+ Takes the time to listen and resolve issues that directly affect their comfort and productivity

+ Build trust with customers in the department’s ability to resolve issues

+ Being self-motivated

A COMPETITIVE CANDIDATE WILL HAVE


Knowledge of:


+ Electrical systems, including low voltage control systems

+ Building construction and building systems including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and lighting

+ Locks and keys

+ Electronics concepts and principles


Preferred:


+ Access control systems

+ Shared drives and network security protocol


Skills in:


+ Troubleshooting building systems

+ Basic mechanics

+ Basic plumbing, pipefitting and drain cleaning

+ Making repairs including soldering and brazing

+ Electrical skills including conduit modification, wiring, troubleshooting and repair of controls

+ Basic carpentry skills including repair and maintenance of doors and windows as well as wallboard repair and painting

+ Written and verbal communication

+ Proven interpersonal skills

+ General computer usage, including e-mail, file management etc.


Preferred:


+ Maintenance welding

+ Basic carpentry and drywall

+ Wiring and conduit layout

+ Creating and editing documents in Microsoft applications such as Word and Excel


Ability to:


+ Prioritize work and manage time efficiently

+ Maintain a high level of quality

+ Complete tasks in a timely manner with minimal supervision

+ Remain motivated and constantly implement process improvements

+ Safely operate lifts and material handling equipment

+ Safely operate hand and power tools

+ Read schematic diagrams

+ Read and interpret blueprints


Preferred:


+ Maintain business relationships with subcontractors and vendors

+ Compose and distribute informational documents such as work orders, schedules, or operational sequence details

+ Obtain job related information from the internet


MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS


Building Maintenance Technician I


Education:


+ High school diploma or GED and
_one_ of the following:


+ Idaho journeyman electrical, HVAC, or plumbing license


OR


+ An equivalent combination of education and work experience


Preferred:


+ HVAC trade school, electronics trade school, or other trade program

+ Idaho journeyman electrical, HVAC, or plumbing license


Experience:


+ 4 years of experience in operations and maintenance of commercial facilities, _including_ troubleshooting and repairing HVAC, plumbing, electrical, lighting, and security systems


Preferred:


+ Demonstrated experience with computerized access control, lighting, and building management systems


Licenses & Certifications:


+ Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record according to driving requirements of the position


Preferred:


+ Idaho journeyman or specialty electrical license

+ Idaho plumbing license

+ Idaho general contracting license


Building Maintenance Technician II


Education:


+ High school diploma or GED and
_one_ of the following:

+ Idaho journeyman electrical, HVAC or plumbing license


OR


+ An equivalent combination of education and work experience


Preferred:


+ HVAC trade school, electronics trade school, or other trade program


Experience:


+ 8 years of experience with direct responsibility for operations and maintenance of commercial facilities, _including_ troubleshooting and repairing a broad variety of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, lighting, and security systems, as well as general building maintenance


Preferred:


+ Demonstrated experience with computerized access control, lighting, and building management systems


Licenses & Certifications:


+ Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record based on driving requirements for the position

+ EPA/DEQ Certification in proper refrigerant handling


Preferred:


+ Idaho journeyman electrical, HVAC or plumbing license


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Job requires the person to bend, stoop and squat, crouch, crawl, climb into and out of vehicles, forklifts, ascend / descend ladders; twist, kneel, balance and reach. Requires occasional lifting shoulder high and above items weighing up to 60 lbs.; frequently lift items waist high and knee high weighing up to 30 lbs. and occasionally items weighing up to 60 lbs. Occasionally use exertional force less than 50 lbs.; occasionally carry items weighing up to 70 lbs. with two hands and occasionally with one hand items weighing up to 50 lbs. Frequently operating foot controls during normal vehicle operation and forklift operation. Frequently grasping items such as hand and power tools, and forklift controls; frequently using fine motor skills to operate small hand tools and computer keyboard. Applicant must be able to perform the essential functions of the job without posing a direct threat of harm to self, others or property. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Applicants must have demonstrated ability to effectively complete tasks and goals with minimal supervision or help. Participation in a regular 24/7 on-call rotation is required. This job requires incumbent to follow all applicable safety rules and regulations; to wear proper clothing and personal protective equipment for tasks or duties; and to properly report accidents and incidents. Additional safety-related training may be required.
