    Position Title Building Maintenance Technician II FLSA Non-Exempt Department Physical Plant Job Summary

    Xavier University of Louisiana invites applications for the position of Maintenance Technician. This is skilled work involved in assisting the maintenance staff in the basic repair of buildings and facilities. Employee(s) in this position are responsible for satisfactory performance of light and heavy manual labor tasks in a wide variety of maintenance work that include: minor plumbing, carpentry, electrical, plastering, flooring, painting, etc. AA/EZOE

    Minimum Qualifications

    High School diploma and work experience similar to job description

    Must practice safety precautions and be safety conscious at all times.

    Work independently or under the supervision of the Maintenance Supervisor or Lead Maintenance Technician.

    Complete work orders and obtains the necessary material and/or supplies to complete assign work orders.

    Properly fill out work order forms indicating description of work performed, materials used, project duration, completion date and signature.

    Report to immediate supervisor any items requiring maintenance as well as any unusual or unsafe conditions.

    Assist other Maintenance Technicians with general labor duties in the installation and repair of minor plumbing, carpentry, electrical, plastering, flooring, painting etc.

    Perform other duties as directed by the Director of Building Services.

    Other projects and responsibilities may be added at the University's discretion

    Preferred Qualifications

    Some knowledge of general maintenance repair

    Ability to follow oral and written instructions

    Ability to perform tasks requiring moderately heavy work

    Ability to establish an effective working relationship with other employees

    Some manual lifting, ability to work from ladders.

    Special Requirements Summary

    Must have valid driver licence

    Work Hours

    Full time - must be flexible and have the ability to work additional/different days/times according to the needs of the University
