Definition
Under general supervision from a Building Maintenance Supervisor, performs a variety of cleaning, maintenance, and minor repair activities in tribally owned buildings in the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community. This job class is treated as FLSA non-exempt and considered a DRIVING position.

Examples of Tasks
Performs a variety of building maintenance and repair tasks, including changing light bulbs, painting, basic carpentry, installing/repairing plumbing and electrical fixtures; cleans out clogged drains and sewer lines. Tracks and maintains work requests utilizing work order software as needed.
Remodels buildings by removing paint and/or paneling, knocking down non-load bearing walls, constructing new walls in accordance with plans or sketches, and installing, taping, and painting, sheet rock; hauls trash from project to landfill.
Installs/repairs heating and cooling systems in new facilities and replaces non-working systems in existing facilities; runs electrical wiring to provide new circuits or replace inadequate circuits.
Maintains safe and clean working environment by ensuring all work areas are clean, free of all tools, parts and equipment before leaving the job site. Oversees maintenance subcontractors while working within the SRPMIC Community as needed.
Performs other related job duties, as assigned, that enhance and facilitate program operations.

Qualifications:
Education & Experience: Graduation from high school or GED equivalent and experience equivalent to two (2) years full time building maintenance or repair work; OR completion of a post high school program in Building Maintenance or one of the construction trades may substitute for one year of the required experience.
Equivalency: Any equivalent combination of training and experience that would enable the candidate to satisfactorily perform and meet the duties and responsibilities required may be considered in meeting the stated minimum qualifications.
Underfill Eligibility: An enrolled Community Member whom closely qualifies for the minimum qualifications for a position may be considered for employment under SRPMIC Policy 2-19, Underfill
Special Requirements
Special Requirements- Successful completion of a background investigation is required for hire. A more extensive background investigation and fingerprint will be required for candidates considered for hire to work in our Education or Early Childhood Education facilities. Candidates that will come in contact with children in our Early Childhood Education Program must also provide proof of immunizations at time of hire, and will be required to maintain booster shots on immunizations and take a TB skin test or x-ray annually.
Prior to hire as an employee, applicants will be subject to drug and alcohol testing. Will be required to pass a pre-employment background/fingerprint check.
