Job Title: Outside Sales Representative – Building Materia

Position Overview

We are seeking a motivated, relationship-driven Outside Sales Representative to develop and grow business with residential builders, contractors,  and other construction professionals. This is an excellent opportunity for a sales professional who understands the building materials industry and enjoys being in the field, developing customer relationships, identifying opportunities, and driving revenue.

The ideal candidate is a self-starter with a strong sales mentality, excellent communication skills, and a proven ability to build lasting relationships with builders and contractors.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain strong relationships with residential builders, contractors, remodelers, and construction professionals
• Identify new business opportunities and aggressively pursue new accounts
• Grow sales and market share within an assigned territory
• Make regular in-person visits to builders, contractors, job sites, and customer locations
• Understand customer needs and recommend appropriate building materials and solutions
• Prepare quotes, negotiate pricing, and close sales while maintaining appropriate margins
• Work closely with inside sales, purchasing, operations, and delivery teams to ensure excellent customer service
• Monitor local construction activity and identify upcoming projects and potential customers
• Follow up on leads, quotes, orders, and customer opportunities
• Maintain accurate customer and sales information in the company's CRM or sales system
• Resolve customer issues quickly and professionally
• Stay current on building materials, products, pricing, market conditions, and competitive activity
• Consistently achieve or exceed sales and profitability goals

Qualifications

• 2+ years of outside sales experience, preferably in building materials, lumber, roofing, siding, windows, trusses, millwork, or related construction products
• Established relationships with residential builders and contractors are highly desirable
• Strong understanding of the residential construction process and building materials
• Proven history of developing new business and growing existing accounts
• Excellent communication, presentation, negotiation, and closing skills
• Strong organizational and time-management abilities
• Ability to work independently and manage a territory effectively
• Comfortable spending significant time in the field visiting customers and job sites
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
