Work Schedule:

Monday - Friday 8AM - 5PM Occasional evening, weekend, and after-hours work may be required to support emergencies, events, equipment installations, maintenance activities, or operational continuity.

Rate of Pay:

This is a Full-Time Administrative position at grade 15, with an annual salary range of $63,673 to $84,897 The salary offer will be based on education and experience, in alignment with the College's compensation philosophy and the current Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA), if applicable.

Job Summary:

The Building Operations Manager provides day-to-day operational leadership for the Manufacturing and Technology Center (MTC), ensuring facility readiness, safety coordination, equipment reliability, operational continuity, and asset stewardship. The position serves as the central point of coordination among academic departments and college support functions to maintain a safe, efficient, and well-managed instructional environment that supports students, employees, visitors, and community partners.

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

Bachelor''s degree in facilities management, operations management, occupational safety, emergency management, engineering technology, construction management, business administration, or a related field; or an equivalent combination of education and directly related experience.

Three years of progressively responsible experience coordinating complex facility, industrial, laboratory, equipment, construction, safety, or operational functions.

Experience coordinating work across multiple departments, vendors, contractors, and stakeholders.

Experience managing projects, maintaining operational records, and tracking issues through resolution.

Strong knowledge of facility operations, equipment management, workplace safety practices, emergency preparedness, preventive maintenance, asset management, and operational documentation.

Proficiency with office software, project tracking systems, work order systems, inventory management, and asset management technology.

Excellent organizational, analytical, problem-solving, communication, and customer service skills.

Ability to communicate technical and operational information clearly to varied audiences and maintain calm, timely communication during disruptions or emergencies.

Desired Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

Experience in manufacturing, skilled-trades, technical education, laboratory, or other complex operational environment

Experience with occupational safety, emergency preparedness, risk mitigation, business continuity, preventive maintenance, asset management, or property-loss documentation.

Experience supporting industrial equipment installation, service coordination, vendor management, or facilities-related projects.

Supervisory or functional leadership experience.

Relevant safety, emergency management, facilities, project management, or operations certification.

Essential Duties:

Coordinates building-level safety activities and operational risk mitigation efforts within the Manufacturing and Technology Center (MTC). Monitors facility conditions, identifies and documents safety concerns, coordinates incident reporting and corrective actions, supports emergency preparedness activities, and serves as the primary operational liaison during emergencies, equipment failures, and operational disruptions. Works closely with Public Safety, Facilities, Risk Management, Environmental Health and Safety, and other departments to maintain a safe and compliant environment.

Serves as the central point of contact for facility, infrastructure, technology, and equipment-related concerns within the MTC. Coordinates the identification, documentation, prioritization, routing, and resolution of operational issues. Collaborates with internal departments, contractors, vendors, and service providers to ensure timely response, minimize disruptions, and maintain the operational readiness of the facility.

Manages building operations initiatives and equipment-related projects, including installations, upgrades, relocations, renovations, and operational improvement efforts. Develops project timelines, coordinates stakeholders, monitors progress, resolves issues, and helps ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently, and with minimal disruption to instructional activities.

Maintains comprehensive records related to equipment, inventory, warranties, preventive maintenance, inspections, service history, safety documentation, and operational activities. Conducts inventory reviews and asset reconciliation activities while supporting long-term asset stewardship, lifecycle planning, replacement forecasting, and compliance requirements.

Provides supervision and direction to the Administrative Assistant and assigned building-support personnel. Oversees front-desk operations, visitor services, building access processes, service request coordination, and reception functions. Establishes work priorities, monitors service standards, provides coaching and guidance, and promotes a positive customer service experience for students, employees, visitors, and community partners.

Coordinates operational planning and facility readiness for approved tours, demonstrations, special events, employer visits, contractor activities, and community engagement programs. Ensures appropriate safety protocols, access requirements, logistics, communication, and support services are in place to facilitate successful events while maintaining normal building operations.

Develops, maintains, and communicates operational procedures, building guidelines, safety protocols, and user support documentation. Coordinates operational training activities and equipment orientations while promoting consistency, accountability, and adherence to established procedures. Identifies opportunities to improve operational effectiveness and user readiness.

Serves as a key liaison between academic departments and college support services, including Facilities Management, Information Technology, Shipping and Receiving, Public Safety, and Risk Management. Prepares reports, analyzes operational trends, monitors performance indicators, and recommends process improvements that enhance safety, efficiency, asset utilization, operational reliability, and customer service.

Other Duties:

Perform other related duties as assigned, consistent with the purpose of the position and in support of the safe, effective, and continuous operation of the Manufacturing and Technology Center.

The role may require occasional evening, weekend, or after-hours availability for emergencies, events, installations, shutdowns, or restoration of operations, consistent with college policy.
