We are seeking an energetic and optimistic individual to help further the reach and impact of the Wisconsin Focus on Energy New Construction program. The Building Performance Consultant will play an important role in the support and implementation of new construction energy efficiency programs. This will include consulting on individual new construction projects to support the programs.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Responsibilities will include gathering the information needed to analyze energy saving options using energy models; coordinating project work deadlines and meetings; managing expectations of design teams and program managers; and providing consultation and presenting work to project teams including owners, architects, and engineers. This role may offer opportunities for participating in professional communities with opportunities for public speaking and presentations. The BP Consultant level integrates basic technical analysis / modeling into the role and includes projects of greater complexity than the advisor role.
Job Requirements / Qualifications:
Bachelors or Masters Degree in Architecture, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, Building Science or closely related field.
2 to 7 years relevant work experience Knowledge of building design, construction processes, and/or building operation.
Knowledge of building systems and factors affecting building performance.
Awareness of energy modeling tools and programs such as EnergyPro, DOE2, EnergyPlus, DesignBuilder, eQuest, or others.
Demonstrated ability to accurately interpret complex information, make strategic recommendations to guide decision-making by identifying anticipated benefits, consequences and impacts of alternative system options.
Familiarity with tools such as MS Excel for data analysis, manipulation, and reporting.
Knowledge of energy codes and standards (such as Title 24, ASHRAE 55, 62.1, 90.1, 189.1).
Knowledge of utility sponsored energy efficiency programs, specifically those that target the design of new buildings.
Any of the following industry related certifications:
Certified Energy Manager (CEM)
Building Energy Modeling Professional (BEMP)
LEED Accredited Professional
Building Energy Assessment Professional (BEAP)
Commissioning Authority (CxA)
Licensure in related field (Professional Engineer or Registered Architect)
Ability to prioritize multiple projects and tasks to ensure timely delivery of high-quality deliverables.
Demonstrated ability to collaborate with a wide range of stakeholders while delivering excellent customer service in a highly dynamic growth environment.
Ability to work effectively in a fast paced, evolving, entrepreneurial work environment.
Proficient in Microsoft Office suite.
About 15% of in state travel required.
