Description
The City of Fairfield is accepting applications for a Building Permit Technician I/II within the Community Development Department. This position supports the Building Divisions permit counter operations, including processing permit applications, issuing permits, reviewing submittals for completeness, calculating fees, and providing information and assistance to contractors, designers, and members of the public. This is a customer-facing role that requires a combination of technical knowledge, attention to detail, and strong interpersonal skills.
The Building Permit Technician I is the entry-level classification. The Building Permit Technician II is the journey level, distinguished by the ability to perform the full range of duties with greater independence and handle more complex permit types and fee calculations.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED:
Permit Technician I: Receives direct supervision from the Permit Center Supervisor. May receive functional direction from journey level Permit Technician and or Senior as directed. May exercise technical and functional direction over lower-level staff as coordinated and directed by the supervisor.
Permit Technician II: Receives supervision from the Permit Center Supervisor. May receive functional direction from Senior Permit Technician as directed. May exercise technical and functional direction over lower-level staff as coordinated and directed by the supervisor.
