Are you an experienced, hands-on professional who wants to help students create, make, and innovate? The Student Innovation Center is seeking qualified candidates for a Building Services Specialist II who will provide supervision, coordination, customer service, and equipment management in the Second level of the center for the Electronics, Textiles, and 3D Printing makerspace.
Key Responsibilities
Implement and enforce safety standards and protocols.
Coordinate student access and usage of the makerspace.
Develop and implement best practices for training and supervision of equipment use.
Maintain records related to makerspace activities, equipment usage, and student engagement.
Manage makerspace resources and communicate additional needs to leadership.
Equipment Management:
Oversee general equipment upkeep, troubleshoot issues, and perform basic repairs.
Maintain a functional, clean, and organized makerspace environment.
Develop and implement training procedures and guidelines for proper equipment use.
Provide support for student projects and requests related to electronics, textiles, and 3D printing.
Continuously enhance personal skills and knowledge in makerspace technologies.
Ensure security and proper handling of makerspace tools and equipment.
Customer Service & Community Engagement:
Create a welcoming environment for all users.
Maintain high standards of professional ethics and relationships with students, faculty, and staff.
Plan and participate in workshops, events, and outreach activities that promote the makerspace.
Provide professional presentations and training sessions to showcase the capabilities of the Student Innovation Center.
Maintain effective communication with managers, stakeholders, and makerspace users.
Additional information: Work schedule is Wednesday - Saturday, 9:00am to 8:00PM.
Preferred Qualifications
Strong supervisory experience
Previous experience providing hands-on training
Experience developing, implementing, and enforcing safety standards and standard operating procedures for equipment
Direct experience working with students, faculty, and staff
Experience with equipment setup, programming, operating, troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair
