• Background checks are generally $60.
• A Substitute Teaching license or Educational Aide permit from the Ohio Department of Education costs $25 per year.
• Do I need a teaching license or educational aide permit?
• A substitute teaching license is necessary to substitute teach.
• Substitutes only working as sub aides/parapros need an Educational Aide permit.
• Where can I get a background check?
• We recommend having background checks completed at Hamilton County ESC (513.674.4200) or Clermont County ESC (513.735.8300).
• Can I use my previous background check?
• Most likely, if it was completed during the previous 12 months and you have a printed copy of the results.
• Will I be expected to work in multiple schools and districts?
• Substitutes choose which schools and districts to work in.
• Will I be expected to work every day?
• Substitutes can work as often or as little as they choose.
