The School District of West Allis-West Milwaukee is in need of a Building Substitute for the 2026-2027 school year at Irving Elementary. Applicants must be certified teachers with a current DPI license or hold a Substitute Permit through the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction.

The rate of pay is:

$205.70 per full day assignment

Position Requirements:

  • Implement existing lesson plans in a manner that ensures the integrity of academic time and motivates students to learn and participate
  • Instructs students regarding a variety of classroom topics and courses of instructions
  • Follow Lesson plans as required by school and WAWM district policy
  • Assign reasonable tasks and homework to students in accordance with lesson plans
  • Address the various learning styles of students accordingly
  • Model correct use of spoken and written English language
  • Demonstrate professional practices in teaching

Classroom Management:

  • Maintain classroom control that fosters a safe, positive environment for all students and staff in accordance with WAWM policy, state , and all applicable laws and regulations.
  • Ensure adequate supervision of students and the classroom environment to assure the health, welfare, and safety of all students
  • Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect equipment, materials, and school property
  • Remain in classroom and monitor students at all times
  • Report all student injuries, accidents, illnesses, and discipline problems to school principal or school personnel immediately
  • May supervise students in out-of-class settings (e.g., assemblies, lunchroom, schoolyard)
  • Experience with urban students in a technology rich, personalized environment is preferred.
