General Description Benefits Questions

Under general supervision, maintain and repair buildings, related structures and pertinent equipment therein; performs the routine or moderately difficult tasks as assigned. Examples of Duties

• Install fixed or portable bus stop signs by banding to existing poles or installing new sign posts in sidewalks or ground. • Prepare surfaces and apply decals and stickers to bus stop signs as directed. • Drive, anchor, and cement sign posts and other bus stop amenities into ground using power tools and hand tools. • Dig or drill holes in dirt or pavement using power tools, as well as patching obsolete post holes. • Remove obsolete or damaged signs and amenities. • Utilize power tools to cut bolts and other obstructions flush to ground surface. • Cut glass of various types and thicknesses to specified sizes. • Replace glass where required in wooden or metal frames. • Remove and replace defective window sashes and roof panels. • Cut, form, assemble and install sheet metal objects such as downpipes, roofs, ducts, shelter frames and trash receptacles. • Operate sheet metal machines such as beader, brake, folder, shears, punch press and spot welder. • Cut, fit and nail metal flashing where necessary. • Load and unload materials from and operates specialized work trucks as required. • Assist in loading, unloading, transporting, installing and removing bus shelters. • Perform incidental sweeping, cleaning, power washing, graffiti removal and snow removal at bus stops and around bus shelters as necessary. • Perform routine preventive maintenance on power tools.

Minimum Qualifications

Qualifications (required) • High School graduation or G.E.D. (General Education Development) equivalent. • Two (2) years of experience in general trade work including two years of experience in general building construction or maintenance work.

RETIREMENT BENEFITS

City Employees Retirement System As a regular City employee you automatically become a member of the General Retirement System. This entitles you to a retirement allowance after: • Completion of thirty (30) years of service; • At age sixty (60) if you have at least ten (10) years of service, or • At age sixty-five (65) with eight (8) years of service; • In the event of disability, other eligibility rules apply; • An early, actuarially reduced, retirement is offered after you have attained at least twenty-five (25) years of service; • Employees are vested after ten (10) years of service, regardless of age.
