    Job Description

    The Braintree Public Schools is seeking caring, collaborative, and student-centered Instructional Paraprofessionals to support students in the STARS (Students Taking Action and Responsibility for Success) Program. The STARS Program is a specialized special education classroom designed to support students with global developmental delays, students with moderate to significant developmental delays, or intellectual impairments. The program''s primary goals are to foster each student''s cognitive, social, and emotional growth, develop receptive and expressive language skills, and promote meaningful participation with peers in the least restrictive environment.

    Working under the direction of a special education teacher and related service providers, the Instructional Paraprofessional provides instructional and behavioral support to help students successfully access the curriculum, develop independence, and participate in classroom and school activities.

    Responsibilities

    • Support students in accessing classroom instruction, academic tasks, and school routines.
    • Assist in implementing individualized education programs (IEPs) and teacher-directed instructional activities.
    • Adapt instructional materials and classroom activities under the direction of the classroom teacher or related service providers.
    • Support students in developing communication, social, behavioral, and self-regulation skills.
    • Reinforce positive behavior supports and classroom expectations.
    • Collect student performance and behavioral data as directed.
    • Assist students with age-appropriate activities of daily living (ADLs) as needed to support participation in the school day.
    • Collaborate with teachers, specialists, and other staff to support student success.
    • Foster a safe, positive, and inclusive learning environment.
    • Perform other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications

    • High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate''s or Bachelor''s degree in education or a related field preferred.
    • Experience working with children or students with disabilities preferred.
    • Knowledge of positive behavior supports and inclusive educational practices preferred.
    • Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
    • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
