Examples of Duties
Under the general direction of the Commissioner of Code Enforcement, assists with the administration of the business processes associated with the Construction Bureau and with the general administration of the Division. Supervises the inspection staff in the inspection of new and existing structures. Supervises actions undertaken pursuant to the enforcement of the housing, building, and zoning codes. Conducts field inspections and develops strategies as necessary to resolve non-routine situations involving real property in the City of Cleveland and department staff. Coordinates structure surveys as necessary. Represents the department to the external community and before boards, committees, and courts of law. Performs other job-related duties as required.
Minimum Qualifications
A High School Diploma or GED is required. Ten years of full time paid combined experience in the constructions trades in addition to building property inspection for work governed by the Ohio Building Code is required. Two years of supervisory experience is also required. Must be adequately proficient in Microsoft Office Suites. Strong organizational and communication skills are required. Must be familiar with and able to exhibit knowledge of the Ohio Building and Residential Codes. A knowledge of the Cleveland Building, Residential, and Zoning Codes is preferred. A valid State of Ohio Drivers License is required. Must have full Certification as an Ohio Board of Building Standards Building Inspector as well as an Ohio Residential Building Official. An Ohio Building Official Certification is preferred.
